indigo sukumo vat workshop

It is a 3-hour workshop specializing in Japan indigo from Tokushima. Gwen will be sharing about the full process of indigo farming from seeds to making a sukumo indigo vat. After which, you will have a hands-on experience dyeing with indigo and also explore different techniques to create your unique, desired pattern.

You are able to bring home one indigo-dyed furoshiki (Japanese wrapped cloth).

Equipments for dyeing will be provided.

All materials are natural and made in Japan.

While aprons are provided, participants are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes which they do not mind getting indigo stains on.

Hands will be stained as a result of the dye. As the dye is natural, it will be washed away in a couple of days. If you do not want to dye with your bare hands, you are free to use the gloves provided.

As the indigo vat is a living organism, class size is limited to 6 pax per session.
